Katelyn support swimming during my Catalina crossing. Prior to the start she provided a great source of motivation: just put the hurt on each support swimmer when they get in. That's what I was trying to do :)
Carly surprised me towards the end of my crossing by hoping in as a support swimmer! Uncle Dan jumped in for a second 2-hour support swim; he totaled over 4 hours for the day.
Carly safe on the boat after a rough and unlucky encounter with just about the ONLY piece of seaweed in the middle of the channel.
Long Beach Police coming for a visit, and to site me for speeding - I actually have a speeding ticket from them!
A well-earned high-five.
Racing to the finish at the Don Burns 1-mile CDM open water swim.

My dad routinely met my mom and I at the end of grueling long Friday training swims during his lunch break to swim the last 30 minutes or so with me. A great pick-me-up and source of encouragement :)
Just some of the many plastic trash in the ocean :(
First night swim.
Night swim with Lenny and my mom in the kayaks.
Uncle Dan, my mom, and I before our solo Tahoe crossings (width; 11.5 miles).
Prior to Tahoe with UD and my dad.
Uncle Dan and I after crossing the width of Tahoe. We were two of the 11 solo swimmers in the 11.5-mile relay race.
10-mile Santa Barbara swim the September before my Catalina summer. The success of this swim was the decision maker; I committed and began training for Catalina after.
Finishing the 10-mile Santa Barbara swim.
Just finished the third leg of the Triple Crown with Nova Masters - 100x100s on 1:15.
Hot gallons of water Uncle Dan and I shower with after our cold winter training swims at Laguna. Nothing like a public shower on PCH to start the day :)
One of my first open water experiences - swimming La Jolla. I've raced at La Jolla almost every year since and have done the 3-mile Gatorman since 2002.
Cliff Drive swim with my dad and Dan in the kayak. This picture appeared in the Laguna Independent.
Marlena and I after the 2-mile Newport Pier-to-Pier. I'm not sure what we're so confused about.
