Jen Schumacher is a graduate student at Cal State Fullerton working towards her Masters in Kinesiology with an emphasis on sport psychology. She is an avid open water swimmer and crossed the 21-mile stretch of the Catalina Channel in August 2009. She is now training to swim in the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim, a current-assisted 28.5-mile race around the island in New York on June 12, 2010.

Jen dedicates her training and marathon swims to the Surfrider's Rise Above Plastics campaign, a nationwide initiative to reduce plastic consumption and subsequent littering of our beaches and oceans.
