Today Uncle Dan really put on a show at Laguna. As we entered the water, we realized that the temperature had plummeted to an unexpected sub-60 degrees - a shocker for late July, and one that we had not anticipated.
Jen Schumacher is a graduate student at Cal State Fullerton working towards her Masters in Kinesiology with an emphasis on sport psychology. She is an avid open water swimmer and crossed the 21-mile stretch of the Catalina Channel in August 2009. She is now training to swim in the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim, a current-assisted 28.5-mile race around the island in New York on June 12, 2010.
Jen dedicates her training and marathon swims to the Surfrider's Rise Above Plastics campaign, a nationwide initiative to reduce plastic consumption and subsequent littering of our beaches and oceans.

After an incredible month-long tour around Europe with Scott, I am finally back at home and back to training. Scott and I landed in CA on Thursday, my birthday, and no sooner than Friday morning was I back in at Laguna with Uncle Dan to take back our beach!
